Fiona's a Real Diamond

And that phrase certainly describes Fiona McLachlan who, with BEST's help, overcame personal tragedy and lack of confidence to become the smart and confident young woman who now manages the Huddersfield store!

The 35 year old had not worked full time since her late teens - becoming a full time carer to her eldest son Connor, who was severely asthmatic, and her three younger children.

Determined

Two years ago tragedy struck on a family holiday when Connor suffered an asthmatic attack; despite valiant efforts by medical staff Connor died in Valencia hospital and the event proved a turning point for Fiona:-

"I started a two week Discover Yourself programme at BEST in Huddersfield run by Jill Dyke and though I'd no self confidence and had not worked for over twelve years I was determined to do it for Connor..."

Fiona was accepted for a placement then four weeks later was employed as a sales assistant. Following a company restructure she was offered, and accepted, the post of Manager. Bouncing with confidence, and running a successful store, Fiona has nothing but praise for BEST and Jill...
